“What happens when a mayor decides to ban advertisements in a vibrant city of 11 million people with more than 8,000 billboards? Impossible, insane, absurd, or just plain genius? Well this is what happened this past January when mayor Gilberto Kassabs “Clean City” law was introduced in Sao Paulo Brazil banning any form of advertising throughout the city to rid of “visual clutter”. (reminds me of the “advertising is graffiti” stunt, or my dislike for posters in Milan).”

Blade Runner hit’s 25 years old this year yet it still manages to hold it’s position as the best sci-fi/post-modern/cyberpunk movie ever…in my opinion of course. If you’ve not read the book but like the film I highly recommend it, in my opinion the book is far far superior.

Mapping the Internet - June 22nd, 2007

MIT’s Technology Review ran an article this week about mapping the internet. It follows some research done to work out how the internet is organised that’s being done by researchers at Bar Ilan University. What they’ve found is interesting - and, when represented graphically, pretty astounding.
